DJI Osmo Mobile – Ultimate stabliser for your Smartphone

DJI Osmo Mobile – Ultimate stabliser for your Smartphone

DJI make a lot of great products. I have to admit I'm a fan. Firstly full disclosure that I am not sponsored by them at this point in time, although it would be nice but I spent my own money to buy the Osmo Mobile. Why? Because I had been waiting for a good stabliser for my phone as I shoot lots of video with my iPhone 6. There are some stablisers out there but they just don't look or do the job well. I have tried the "Glide Gear Smart Phone Cellfie Stabliser" which I bought earlier in the year (from BHPhoto) but there were issues using it. It was hard to balance as the tiny ball head based...

Introduction to Timelapse with Canon Collective

Introduction to Timelapse with Canon Collective

Yesterday I attended a workshop hosted by Canon Collective a social community by Canon Australia where they gave us a taste of Timelapse photography. Emma Desira was our host who welcomed everybody to the workshop and started by explaining the concept and background of Timelapse photography. The workshop was hosted near the Archibald Fountain in Hyde Park, where we all met up. We setup near a T-intersection where traffic was moving in all three directions. The idea was to take 240 to 300 shots all 3-seconds apart and then compile them into a video later on. Emma had scouted two interesting...

TriggerTrap Mobile Dongle – Intro and Quick Test

TriggerTrap Mobile Dongle – Intro and Quick Test

The postman was kind enough to deliver the TriggerTrap Dongle (also called The Kit) just in time for a Timelapse event hosted by Canon later this week in Sydney's Hyde park. So once I got home, I decided to do a quick test at home in the studio while recording the video showcasing some of its features. I haven't used the device in the field yet to test out its results but I will share that soon on the blog. In the meantime, have a look at this video to get an idea of how this dongle works and how you can use it in various different situations.

The solution is actually in your pocket. Yes that's right!! Your smartphone has built in GPS that tags all your pics taken on the smartphone. So the only thing you have to do is remember to take a shot of where you are. You can even take the behind the camera shot that you can share on social media to keep...

HSL Panel – The Most Misunderstood in Lightroom

HSL Panel – The Most Misunderstood in Lightroom

The HSL Panel in Lightroom is probably the least used and most misunderstood panel in the Develop module. However if you know the power of this panel you can really achieve some specific edits. Change Selective Colour You can change one selective colour using the Hue sub-panel adjustments within the HSL Panel no need to use any selections or masks to make the changes. Each of the sliders show which colour you are moving towards when you move it left or right. I admit there are limitations with this but still a super quick way to change colours. See the example below where we can easily turn...

Fujifilm Launch X-T2 in Australia

Fujifilm Launch X-T2 in Australia

As a good friend of Fujifilm Australia, I had an opportunity (among other bloggers) to attend the launch event of Fujifilm X-T2. Of course the attendees all got the opportunity to try pre-production release of X-T2 which will be finally available in Australia as of 8th September. You also had the opportunity to ask questions to the Fujifilm expert trainer Warrewyk Williams. The event was hosted at the "Luna Park" in The Palais room where we were greeted with a glass of bubbly, wine or whatever you liked. We were welcomed by all their team and introduced to various members of Fujifilm...
