My First 6 months with Fujifilm X-T1

My First 6 months with Fujifilm X-T1

Since my move to Fuji X-T1 late November in 2014. I've been using this camera religiously and have only gone back to my Canon 7D twice during this period for some Macro shots. During my 6 month journey I have used my X-T1 for Portraits, Travel, Landscapes, Ultra-Wide Angle and HDR images. The camera has traveled over 50,000 kms with me from Sydney to Singapore, India, Germany, Spain and Dubai. My Experiences: The sheer size and weight factor of this camera makes it very welcoming to carry around...

Removing Dark Circles in Lightroom

Removing Dark Circles in Lightroom

Dark circles are fairly common on faces so if you are shooting portraits for a living you know how to fix them in photoshop. There are many ways to do this in photoshop but this post is about Lightroom. So I will show you how you can minimise dark circles and reduce wrinkles or skin folds from being too prominent. This is by no means aimed at professionals, its actually for the rest of us who just want to create nice & pleasing images. And the key thing to keep in mind is that you only want to reduce its appearance and not completely remove it. Otherwise it may look too unreal...

Free Calendar Wallpaper – June 2015

Free Calendar Wallpaper – June 2015

This month's wallpaper comes from far away land. We travel to Barcelona Spain and find this artwork of a building by Antoni Gaudi known as La Pedrera,Casa Milà. The building is residential and commercial, with tenants occupying parts of the levels, so you get access to couple of levels opened to tourists. You get sent straight to the Roof top as soon as you clear the security and x-ray screening. After which you work your way down to the levels back to the ground floor while taking a stroll back in time to see how the residents lived back then. Its certainly worth the visit, however my...

Germany’s Financial Capital

Germany’s Financial Capital

Frankfurt is often referred to as the Financial Capital of Germany due to such a economic presence in the city. You have the most number of Stock Exchanges in Frankfurt, more than any city in Europe so you could practically call Frankfurt Euro's Capital. Walking downtown, other than branded expensive stores, you constantly hear Ferrari's, Porche's, Lamborghini's and other posh car engines revving their engines and turning heads. You can't miss this giant Euro Symbol when you get to the financial area of downtown Frankfurt.

Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof HBF

Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof HBF

Last month I had an opportunity to visit Frankfurt. It was after a trip to Barcelona, so its hard to beat. But the city of Frankfurt looks like a financial city. The downtown area although fairly old, has lots of great pubs and restaurants that offer great local food. I had a day to wonder around the Frankfurt Main HBF station and walk around, there are many things to see. Here we start off with the main station and a couple of shots from inside and outside the station. Something about these stations that attracts me to them is the sheer grand scale and the fascinating architecture they...

Casa Mila La Pedrera – Barcelona

Casa Mila La Pedrera – Barcelona

Casa Mila La Pedrera is one of the amazing creations by Antoni Gaudi an architect responsible for many of the amazing creations that have become a legacy for the city of Barcelona. This building he designed for a couple who wanted to live in but they had the vision of renting out rest of the floors to tenants. Even today there are actual residents living in this building and you only have access to one of the floors and roof. However the design inside and outside are very impressive for the period when these were built. Definitely worth a visit!!

Adobe Lightroom CC Identity Plate Size

Adobe Lightroom CC Identity Plate Size

With the latest release of Lightroom CC (also called version 6), it seems that Adobe has reduced the Identity Plate size. Just last month I wrote about getting the identity plate back to displaying correctly when you were using Lightroom Mobile. As soon as I upgraded from Lightroom 5 to Lightroom CC I noticed that my customised Identity plate was cut off. At this stage it doesn't seem like there is any official post from Adobe about what the new size should be. At least I didn't find any so far. So after some trial and error I noticed that using a Height of 40 pixels (40 px) seems to do the...

Free Calendar Wallpaper – May 2015

This month's calendar comes from a local rock pool at Mona Vale (Northern Beaches of Sydney). I went there with a friend Mykal Hall and we were planning to shoot the Super Moon as it rose up from the horizon. Unfortunately for us there was lot of smoke on the horizon due to some fire back-burning (which is preventative measure fire department takes to prevent any bush fires from spreading to residential areas) we weren't able to see the moon until it rose beyond the thick layer of smoke. You can see the muggy layer of smoke above the horizon. Widescreen Version   Regular Version
