It’s Official – Punchy HDR Preset is Most Popular

It's Official - Most Popular Preset Every since its release back in March, my Punchy HDR Preset for Lightroom (v4) has been the most popular by far. Many people who have downloaded it have emailed me back saying how much they love the preset. The other presets like Instagram Preset, LR5 Light Leak Preset, LR5 Punchy HDR Preset and LR5 Afternoon HDR Preset are more recent (except Instagram preset which is oldest) but it seems that people want to create more HDR like photos these days. Lightroom v5 is more recent so perhaps most people have not yet upgraded to it. Thanks for all your support...

Free Lightroom 5 Preset – Light Leak

Free Lightroom 5 Preset – Light Leak

I had been watching my Google+ and Pinterest photo streams and found many photos that have a Light Leak effect applied on them. Light leak comes from the old darkroom days when Cameras used film. A roll of 24 or 36 exposure film had to be carefully loaded in your camera, hopefully in a dark location. And after the roll was full you would take it to the photo lab where they will remove the film and develop the photos out of it. Light leak is essentially the film getting exposed to additional light after getting the photo. This might most likely happen when you try to remove the film from the...

The Louvre at Night

The Louvre at Night

The Louvre at night is a great setting for photos, not that its any different other times of the day. However once the sun goes down the lights come on the place becomes a photographers paradise. Tourists start to head off and you can get room to plant your tripod around the location to get the photos you want. The photo below, I took by standing on the ledge on one corner that surrounds the fountains. About the Photo The photo is processed using Nik/Google HDR Pro 2 which I started to experiment with, just because the interface is much easier to use than some other tools like Photomatix Pro...

Free Lightroom 5 HDR Presets

Lightroom 5 HDR Preset - Punchy HDR Punchy HDR, is one of my most popular HDR presets (1000+ downloads a month) that I created for use in Lightroom 4. This preset has been revised and optimised for Lightroom 5 and is available for download. Its still free just as before!! The preset works best on RAW images as they contains most information in comparison to JPEG images. Check out the preview below of the Before & After. Lightroom 5 HDR Preset - Afternoon This was another preset I published earlier last month and its gaining...

La Conciergerie – Paris

La Conciergerie – Paris

La Conciergerie in Paris is one of the old Royal Palaces and Prisons which is a hidden gem in the heart of Paris. It is located short walk from Notre Dame and the closest Metro Station is "Cité". I had walked past this location twice in my previous stop overs in Paris without realising that I could go inside it. From the outside it looks amazing and from the inside its even nicer (well the small portion that is accessible to tourists). The only problem is that it is quite dark and you need a Tripod to get a decent shot. Of course the Tripod police will not let you setup the Tripod as usual,...

Free Lightroom Preset – Afternoon HDR

A New Lightroom Preset - Afternoon HDR Afternoon HDR is a preset that I created because it so happens that many times when I go out to take photos, it might not be early in the morning or later evening. It might actually be the middle of the afternoon with full sun shining above your head. So in this Preset I toned down the afternoon bright sunlight because everything becomes too Yellow and if you have any foliage it also becomes fluro Green. To make the most of this Preset please make sure you are taking your photos in RAW format and not in JPEG. Download Don't forget to share, your support...

Flying over Middle Earth – New Zealand

Flying over Middle Earth – New Zealand

New Zealand, also now known as Middle Earth thanks to the "Lord of the Rings" brand. Flying over this magnificent land you always get some great views and so I'm always keeping my camera close by (under the seat in front). I'm not ashamed to say that I will use the camera even though the Cabin Crew ask "Electrical devices must now be switched off". Really what is a Camera going to do to interfere with Airplane which is a much more complex machine, laptop or iPad maybe!! Anyways, I was flying out of NZ this time and this time we were now allowed to use electronic devices, so I had the camera...

Shooting Paris: 17 Locations in 72 hours

Shooting Paris A few years ago when I went to Paris, I was shooting with my old DSLR and basic Kit lens plus my Sigma Wide Angle lens. Since then a few things have happened, I've upgraded to some better gear; Canon 7D and some L lens. Also, I'm under the impression that my photography has gotten better. Well at least my mum agrees!! Now again this year I've got the opportunity to go to Paris so the plan is to visit some of the locations that I haven't shot before and also to revisit some of the locations I've been to before. The Plan Well the plan is that I'm staying in Paris for three days....

Make the Cage and Fence Disappear

Make the Cage and Fence Disappear

A Neat trick to get rid of Cage/Fence When shooting animals, birds or any objects that are fenced off or caged off to prevent access, its very annoying that you may not be able to get a clean shot of the subject. However the solution is not rocket science and doesn't require any Photoshop..its all done in camera. So, How is it done? Before we go into the detail, the only requirement is that you ensure its safe to get close to the fence. Don't get clawed or bitten!! One solution is if your camera lens is small enough to get through the one square or quadrant of fence, then that's straight...

Photo to Eye Candy: GelaSkins

Photo to Eye Candy I find that everybody I meet these days who enjoys photography, always ends up keeping their photos on their phone or computer. They rarely go and print their photos. There are many new and innovative ways to get your photos printed these days and they are so easy. Forget the standard 4x6 inch prints or 5x7 inch prints they are old and really a loss of the Megapixels that your cameras have these days. One of the unique ways to print your photos on Vinyl Skin which you can stick on your laptop or tablet making it unique to your taste. GelaSkins a Canadian based company does...
